Call for abstracts

Submission guidelines

We invite authors to submit extended abstracts of up to 1000 words for oral or poster presentations.

To submit an abstract:

Create an Account: Register through our online submission platform here.
Submit Your Abstract: After registration, you will be directed to the submission form.

📌 New for 2025: This year, there is no required template for abstracts. Instead, authors will enter their information directly into predefined fields in the submission form.

The abstract should be organized into the following sections:

  1. Introduction: Outline the background and objectives of your study.
  2. Method: Describe the methodology, including data collection and analysis.
  3. Results: Summarize key findings.
  4. Discussion: Interpret the findings and discuss their implications.
  5. Conclusion: Highlight the main takeaways and potential future directions.


Tables
can be inserted directly into the abstract text field in the submission portal.
Images, figures, or illustrations must be uploaded as a single attachment rather than inserted into the text editor.
If your abstract includes multiple images, please combine them into either a single PDF file or a single image file (e.g., JPG or PNG) before uploading.

References must follow APA format

Please note that abstracts can only be accepted if at least one author has registered for participation at the conference.

Conference topics

The headline for the conference is Knowledge for Prevention.

ICSC 2025 aims to advance understanding and solutions for cycling safety. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Data on cycling crashes and injuries
  • Safe cycling infrastructure
  • Safe bicycles
  • Safe motor vehicles for cyclists
  • Safe interaction between cyclists and connected/automated vehicles
  • Protective devices to increase cycling safety
  • Safety-related behaviour and attitudes
  • Research methods: observation/ naturalistic studies and cycling simulators
  • Safety of pedelecs and S-pedelecs
  • Education and cycling safety
  • Regulations and standards for safe cycling
  • Future trends and cycling safety implications
  • Micromobility: emerging trends & safety implications
  • Cycling safety in emerging countries
  • Winter cycling, infrastructure and maintenance
  • Practitioners’ perspectives on cycling safety*

Submissions for the topic Practitioners’ perspectives on cycling safety should follow this structure:

Background: Describe the problem or challenge addressed.

Context & Methods: Explain the setting, project, intervention, or study.

Findings & Key Insights: Present lessons learned, successes, and challenges.

Implications & Recommendations: Highlight takeaways for other practitioners.

References: If applicable.

Special Issue

All contributors to ICSC 2025 will have the opportunity to submit a full paper for consideration in a special issue of Journal of Safety Research after the conference.
